In Vietnamese Fashion

Monica and I arrived late on December 14th to Ho Chi Minh City for our first stop in Vietnam. This city is the economic center of the country and I believe their largest city. We left after just two nights there because it wasn't really our vibe. One thing I will say about Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam in general is the traffic is complete chaos. And of course, Monica and I would later get our chance to drive in it.

Our next stop was Mui Ne. A small beach town mostly catering to Russian tourists and home to local fisherman. We found nice and cheap accommodations and spent the next three days laying on the beach and eating the freshest seafood. Oh yeah, and I did hike to the top of some sand dunes one morning.

Side note: For those of you who don't know. I'm very much afraid of snakes...

The next destination was Nha Trang. There, we met some fun locals who worked at a bar called The Booze Cruise and a great group of local guys that ran their own Easy Rider Tour company. Easy rider tours are motorbike guided tours through various areas of Vietnam. We spent the next week hanging out with our new friends and of course did a three day easy rider tour.

The following pictures should hopefully provide enough explanation of what we did for the last week. However, I will quickly add that I was put on a proper motorcycle for the beginning of this trip. Without any previous riding experience and cruising windy roads (like those of Highway 49 outside of Grass Valley, CA), I of course wiped out on the bike within the first few hours of our three day trek into the Vietnamese mountains.

As my mom already knows, I was not seriously injured. Just some road rash and bruises on the left side of my body. And of course when I woke up this morning, five days after the accident, my shoulder had become infected and I had to visit the hospital for a professional cleaning, shots, antibiotics, and dressing for until it heals. Only $58 too.
