After a month in Hong Kong, it was time to shed the pants
and sweatshirt B.S. and get back to the sun and heat! This took me down to the
Philippines. My first stop would be the island of Palawan. I spent a week there
with my time split between Puerto Princesa & El Nido.
From what I’ve seen so far, and this may not be accurate at
all, the Philippines are like Asia’s Mexico. I’m not too sure how to best
support this claim but take a look at the pictures and you should get some better
idea where I’m coming from.
Puerto Princesa was nice and quiet with very few Western
vacationers. There were, however, a decent amount of Filipino vacationers there.
The main attraction there is the underground river and doing some island
hopping day trips. My experience there was really nice. Very quiet and got a
good taste for local life there. I also got to zip line off this small mountain
thing over some rice patties while there. Pretty exhilarating…
My time in Puerto Princesa was divided by a trip to El Nido .
This is a very small town in the northern point of Palawan. The main attraction
there is island hopping day trips. By doing these you get to see some amazing
small islands and beautiful ocean views.
