Thailand: A Sad Goodbye

I realize I’m a bit behind on my blogging. However, rather than skip over the last relatively uneventful week in Thailand, I would like to highlight a few things, throw out some random pictures, and make a few statements about my perception of Thailand.

My last week in Thailand consisted of a few more days in Chiang Mai and once again, Bangkok. My days in Chiang Mai were quieter than most others. Except, I did wake up one morning with red dots littering my right leg and foot. And I’m not talking about a few weird dots here and there. I’m talking about 30-40 red dots clustered all over my lower right appendage. Of course, being in a foreign country, I was a little bit more concerned than I would be at home. I went to the hospital and after a few appointments spanning over two days, they determined I had Vasculitis as a reaction from having Strep. Naturally, $162 later and a scare of thinking I might have Hep C, I was on my way to recovery. I think I might need traveler’s insurance. Heh…

Following Chiang Mai, which I miss greatly, I spent my last few nights in Bangkok. After my first night, I woke up at 5:30am to watch the Super Bowl at an American bar I had sought out. The experience was great because I was able to get another Nor Cal native and four Brits to join and root for our Niners. The rest of that experience is not worth description… However, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the 49ers organization for another exciting season of professional sports.

Finally, about Thailand.. My god, I love that country. I can’t quite put it into words. The cuisine, the people, the fucking cost of living (haha), the fellow travelers… I’m not trying to suggest everyone goes and visits and makes this country the next Burning Man epidemic where they have to start regulating the attraction and it changes due to this. But, I just want to acknowledge, on this platform, how much I love and appreciate the country. I could honestly live there for a while…
